Alexander Bailey is a young artist emerging out of the city of Richmond, Va. His work has been sold to numerous local art collectors and has had his first solo exhibition at the age of eighteen in Richmond, Va at Lift Gallery. The work is a combination of self experience that meets the modern world. He captures his color and use of line from his extensive travelling throughout Europe, South America, and the coastal states of western United States. The works main goal is to portray personal experience in a sophisticated, yet whimsical way. The recent works by the artist represent the color scheme of an updated, modern urban scene containing the everyday interactions Alex Bailey goes through. The work is meant to be shown anyplace that adds balance, while speaking with the viewer one on one.
In the past two years the artist has taken the main goal of travelling throughout the country to embrace a variety of culture and ideas that elevates his work to represent people from coast to coast. The work is not meant to represent a specific locality, rather it embraces line, shape, color, and form that is taken from cities in California, to the mountains in Colorado, and all the way back to the historic city of Richmond, Virginia. |
The image to the left is a recent work done on canvas with the application of acrylic and charcoal. The artist wanted to use the colors from surrounding architecture, mixed with attributes of modern fashion of patrons patrolling this specific city block. It is a mixture of organic shape and color with the attitude of the personalities of individuals that are found in this area. It is a piece with a sleek, modern tone that hangs well in light and dark situations. This painting was done the beginning of 2014. It is four feet by three feet.
The artists main goal is to create and open a studio in Los Angeles to continue to develop and show work. Feel free to contact the artist at any time and he is willing to work for commission to create the desired piece to fit any area that you may have in mind. |
